Kraków hosted the 5th European Congress of Local Governments

"Local government as the strategy for the future" wass the theme of the 5th European Congress of Local Governments, which was held on 8-9 April at the ICE Congress Center in Kraków. Over 80 events, including reports, panels, workshops, lectures and presentations were divided into 13 thematic paths.

Once again, Kraków hosted more than 2000 the participants of the European Congress of Local Governments and will become the capital of European local governments for two days. The event wass an excellent opportunity to meet and exchange economic and social views among local leaders, regional elites, representatives of governments, businesses, culture and NGOs, as well as the media from Central and Eastern Europe.

- "We are very pleased that Kraków is a city that is developing so much in the context of other European capitals. Each year new business and technology centers open here and outsource their services which makes it possible for our region to develop significantly. According to "The meetings industry Kraków 2017" report over 6000 meetings business events, were organised here last year which represents 14% increase compared to 2016," said Mayor of Kraków Jacek Majchrowski.

The development of such meetings was certainly influenced by the opening of two venues in 2014, the ICE Kraków Congress Center and TAURON Arena Kraków. They created excellent space for such events.

The thematic paths of this year's Congress addressed, among other things, topics in the area of local governmental economy, social tasks, modern services, new technologies, tourism and urban planning, and financing of development.
