Green for Clean Air – scientific conference

The conference Green for Clean Air, organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Poland and Department of Ornamental Plants of University of Agriculture in Krakow, took place on February 20th, 2018. The aim of the event was to widely share the knowledge of great benefits that plants have on air quality and human health and well-being. City of Krakow was a partner of the conference.

FOR AIR AND FOR PEOPLE

Greenery can substantially improve the quality of air and the main goal of the conference is to share this knowledge. Its organizers would like to concentrate on the usage of plants in offices and public spaces – indoors and outdoors – where greenery is able to effectively purify air polluted with smog and have a beneficial influence on human creativity, ability to learn and work efficiency, too. The speakers will display recent researches proving all of greenery benefits. Latest trends using this knowledge in practice, in interior design, architecture and landscape architecture – biophilic design and Urban Green – will be also presented.

ONE IDEA, EXPERTS FROM VARIOUS FIELDS

With the aim to widely promote the idea, conference Green for Clean Air brought together scientists and experts from different fields e.g. medicine, architecture and city planning, agriculture and horticulture or bioethics, who showed the advantages of using plants in people’s surroundings. The speakers came from Krakow and Warsaw scientific circles and from the Netherlands, too – specialists on Urban Green

The conference aimed at individuals, representatives of various institutions and local authorities that are responsible for planning and creating public spaces. Moreover, media were present so that the message of Green for Clean Air could reach the public.

THE EMBASSY OF THE KINGDOM OF THE NETHERLANDS IN POLAND AND DEPARTMENT OF ORNAMENTAL PLANTS FOR THE GREEN IDEA

Green for Clean Air conference was the continuation of last year’s event Green and Light, organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Poland, too, which has been popularizing the idea of beneficial influence of plants on human health and well-being for years. The Embassy has also initiated the erection of the Smog Free Tower in Krakow which took place on February 15th. 

Department of Ornamental Plants of University of Agriculture in Krakow also promotes the green idea, propagating e.g. hortitherapy and sociohorticulture.

Media patrons of the conference were TVP3 Kraków, PodOsłonami.pl and ForumKwiatowe.pl. Partners of the conference are City of Krakow and ZieleńWeWnętrzach.pl. Plants sponsor is Air so Pure.
