Mayor Jacek Majchrowski has been reelected as Executive Bureau Member of CEMR

Between 2017 and 2020 he will serve as an  Executive President and a Policy Committee Member of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR). 

The CEMR Policy Committee met last week and the election of the new Executive Bureau for 2017-2020 was one of the most important items on the agenda. Mayor Jacek Majchrowski who had served the previous term as one of the Co-Presidents, was unanimously reelected for the position of Executive President.  

The Mayor of Krakow is a CEMR Member as the Vice-president of the Association of Polish Cities. This organisation, along with the Association of Polish Counties, represents our country in the CEMR.

Jacek Majchrowski will be supporting the work of the new Head, Stefano Bonaccini, President of the Italian Region of Emilia-Romagna.

Another Pole elected for CEMR Executive Bureau is Ewa Janczar, a Councillor of the City of Warsaw.

CEMR represents nearly 130 thousand towns, communities and regions from all around Europe, associated in local and regional authorities associations from 42 countries.

The December meeting of the organisation in Maastricht was accompanied by debates summing up the 25th Anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty and 10th Anniversary of  CEMR Charter for Equality of Women and Men in Local Life.
