Meeting with two Illinois politicians

Republican U.S. Senator Mark Kirk and Democratic Congressman Mike Quigley visited the Krakow City Hall during their 6-day visit in Poland.

Mayor Jacek Majchrowski welcomed the two representatives of U.S. Congress in the Krakow Municipality on 13 January 2011. Senator Kirk and Congressman Quigly are strong supporters of Poland joining the visa waiver program which would enable Polish tourists and businessmen to travel to U.S. for the period up to 90 days without having to apply for a visa. Mayor's guests emphasised possible advantages of Poland joing the visa waiver program, namely the fact Chicago's economy would benefit from increased tourist traffic between the two countries. It is worth mentioning the fact that almost 1 million Polish nationals and Polish-Americans live in the Chicago area.

The guests mentioned most important aspects of Polish-American strategic relations and emphacised the significance of the relationship between the inhabitants of Krakow and its region and those of Chicago.

During their trip to Poland Senator Kirk and Congressman Quigley met with President Bronisław Komorowski, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and former President Lech Wałęsa.
