Krakow at the famous Salon du Livre in Paris!
Krakow was the guest of honour of the Salon du livre de Paris, the second largest book fairs in Europe, organized in the Capital of France on 19 – 23 March 2015.
Our City held an own stand at the fairs. It was an excellent occasion for Krakow to present to the international audience our centuries-old literary, academic and artistic heritage as well as the experience of European Capital of Culture 2000 and UNESCO City of Literature. Salon du livre also opens grand opportunities to promote contemporary Polish literature on European market and stimulate publishing and translational activities, concentrated in Krakow as the leading cultural center in our country.
The exhibition, organized simultaneously with International Tourist Fairs, offered some more information on the luminaires of culture, associated with Krakow and Wroclaw such as: Tadeusz Kantor and Jerzy Grotowski, Wisława Szymborska and Tadeusz Różewicz, Andrzej Wajda and Stanisław Lem among others. Meet-the-author sessions were organized with participation of leading contemporary Polish writers: Joanna Bator, Ewa Lipska, Ryszard Krynicki, Wojciech Tochman, Olga Tokarczuk and Marek Krajewski.
