“The Guardian” on Krakow anti-smog policy

The signing by the Polish President Andrzej Duda of the so called "anti-smog" law, a regulation of such great importance for Krakow, was commented not only in the local and national polish media but also internationally.

In the recent issue of "The Guardian" we can read about Krakow ‘s struggle with air pollution and benefits the new regulation can bring.

According to the British daily, signing the “anti-smog” law by Polish President is a significant  step forward in the battle for clean air in Krakow and the whole country. The new act allows to introduce a ban on the use of coal in household stoves and Mayor of Krakow Jacek Majchrowski intends to take advantage of this opportunity.

The Mayor of Krakow underlines also that thanks to the new regulations, the process of removing the coal stoves and replacing them with eco friendly heating systems will speed up. Moreover, the City will be developing further the district heating system and limiting vehicle access to the city centre.

“We are hoping that that local authorities elsewhere will start fighting air pollution as vigorously as we do in Krakow” says Jacek Majchrowski.
