Professor Zbigniew Brzeziński, Honorary Citizen of Krakow, died at age 89

Polish born Zbigniew Brzeziński, one of the most influential international relations experts and strategists in US, died at age 89 on Friday 26th May. He served as President Jimmy Carter's principal foreign policy adviser during the 1976 campaign and as national security adviser from 1977-1981. Brzeziński was one of the architects of Soviet Union defeat and strongly supported Poland's accession to NATO.

Zbigniew Brzeziński studied at McGill University in Montreal and earned a doctorate degree in political science at Harvard University where he also teached. Served also as foreign affairs adviser to Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. Recently he was a senior research professor of international relations at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a counselor for the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Brzeziński was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Krakow by Krakow City Council on 14th May 2002.
