Nigerian Ambassador pays a visit to Krakow

On a chilly Tuesday morning of 26 March 2013 Mayor of the City of Krakow Jacek Majchrowski warmly welcomed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Poland H.E. Samuel Wodi Jimba.

Ambassador Jimba presented his credentials to President Bronislaw Komorowski in August 2012. His previous positions included that of a Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Education of the Nigerian Nasarawa State. During his first visit in our city Ambassador Jimba was accompanied by his wife, as well as Minister for Consular Matters Theophilus Akinbo and Attaché at the Nigerian Embassy Arabi I. Alhassan.

Ambassador Jimba has been involved with issues of communication, informatization, library science and education ever since he graduated from university. During his meeting with the Mayor of Krakow Nigerian Abassador emphacized Krakow's intellectual potential, its many universities and a vast population of students. The development of academic cooperation is going to be one of Ambassador Jimba's priorities in developing Polish-Nigerian relations. Another one could be cooperation in the field of food processing. Food processing industry is poorly developed in Nigeria, which – as Ambassador Jimba pointed out – causes considerable wastage of agricultural products.

This and other potential fields of cooperation will be further discussed during a planned visit of Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Nigeria.
