Aesthetics in Action – 19th International Congress of Aesthetics
A 100-year old tradition, 500 academics from 53 countries and a unique program of cultural events – under the honorary patronage of Jacek Majchrowski, Mayor of the City of Krakow, Barbara Kudrycka, Minister of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The 19th International Congress of Aesthetics (ICA) will be held in Krakow from 21st to 27th of July.
This edtion of the Congress is organized by the Jagiellonian University, the Polish Society for Aesthetics and the International Society for Aesthetics.
The first International Congress of Aesthetics was organized in Berlin exactly one hundred years ago in 1913. Nowadays the congresses are held every three years. Four previous meetings took place outside Europe (in Tokio, Rio de Janeiro, Ankara and Beijing), therefore the decision to fete the anniversary in Krakow was particularly important to the Polish Society for Aesthetics and Krakow academics. It is a recognition of their achievements and the importance of European roots of this field.
The opening ceremony will be held on Monday, 22nd of July, at the Auditorium Maximum of the Jagiellonian University (ul. Krupnicza 33).
