Today, 27 May, Kraków is hosting a gala organised to mark the first-ever nationwide selection of the prestigious Michelin Guide in Poland. This is a landmark moment for Polish gastronomy and an important step in further strengthening Kraków’s position as a leading culinary tourism destination in Europe.
Present worldwide since 1900, the Michelin Guide is regarded as the most influential publication in the gastronomic sector, while Michelin Stars remain the highest international symbol of culinary excellence and craftsmanship.
Until now, the Michelin Guide had evaluated restaurants primarily in selected cities and regions, including Warsaw, Poznań, Kraków, Wrocław and the Pomeranian Voivodeship. In 2026, for the first time, the selection will cover the entire country, encompassing both major cities and smaller destinations, offering a comprehensive overview of Poland’s culinary landscape.
During the Kraków Gala, the restaurants recognised in the Michelin Guide will be announced in the following categories:
When evaluating restaurants, Michelin inspectors assess the quality of ingredients, harmony of flavours and the chef’s individual style. This approach allows recognition of both smaller local establishments and venues offering refined culinary experiences.
The organisation of the Michelin Guide Poland selection is carried out in cooperation with the Polish Tourism Organisation and confirms the dynamic development of Polish gastronomy, as well as Poland’s growing importance on Europe’s culinary map.
Kraków is the host city of this historic event – a city that combines local traditions with modern culinary trends, offering a wide range of diverse gastronomic experiences. The event may contribute to the promotion of culinary tourism both in the city and across the country, increase the number of international visitors, support the growth of the premium tourism segment and stimulate investment in the hospitality and restaurant sector.
At the same time, it promotes local products and regional culinary traditions, while recognised restaurants may experience a significant increase in reservations.
This is a remarkable moment for both Polish and European gastronomy, particularly important for industry partners and representatives of the hotel, restaurant and catering sector (HoReCa), as well as the wider tourism industry.
The event partner is Kraków Tourism Alliance.
