Bernatka Footbridge Illuminated in the Colors of the American Flag

On 4 July, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, the Father Laetus Bernatek Pedestrian and Cycling Footbridge will be illuminated in red, white, and blue. Through this gesture, Kraków will join the celebrations marking this historic anniversary.

In 1776, representatives of the thirteen British colonies in North America adopted the Declaration of Independence, marking the birth of a new nation and one of the world's oldest modern democracies.

Poles also played a significant role in the American Revolutionary War. General Tadeusz Kościuszko, an outstanding military engineer and designer of defensive fortifications, and General Kazimierz Pułaski, widely regarded as the father of the American cavalry, made invaluable contributions to the fight for American independence. Their legacy remains a lasting symbol of the enduring friendship and strong historical ties between Poland and the United States.
