Unity Day in Ukraine - day of unity with Ukraine

Today, when the territorial integrity of Ukraine is under threat, Kraków expresses its solidarity and readiness to support its Ukrainian partner cities and all Ukrainians. 16 February has been declared the Unity Day in Ukraine.

For us, Ukraine has been and will remain a European country, an independent political entity and one of our most important strategic partners. We are proud of Ukraine's achievements on its path to European integration and of Krakow's long-standing cooperation with Ukrainian cities and institutions. Kraków has become a second home for thousands of Ukrainians, who - studying and working in our city - enrich its potential and multicultural character every day.

The Kraków Branch of the Union of Ukrainians in Poland encouraged all Ukrainians and supporters of Ukraine to join the #StandWithUkraine peaceful march in solidarity with Ukraine on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Town Hall Tower on Kraków's Main Square. Representatives of the Ukrainian community were met there, among others, by the Consul General of Ukraine in Kraków Vyacheslav Wojnarovśkyj and Deputy Mayor of Kraków Bogusław Kośmider.

On the same day, the Bernatek footbridge connecting the districts of Kazimierz and Podgórze as well as the Emitel TV tower in Krzemionki were illuminated in Ukraine's national colours - blue and yellow. We could also see the Ukrainian flag on the screens of TAURON Arena Kraków.
