Each year, 8 September is an occasion to celebrate the creation of the OWHC and to underline the commitment of member cities to work together to preserve the universal values of world heritage.
Also in Kraków, we take this opportunity to make the September occasion to celebrate not only the jubilee of historic Kraków's inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978, but to talk about the heritage nowadays, popularize undiscovered traditions and explore Kraków's treasures. Last year, we organized a celebration of the 45th anniversary of Kraków's inscription on the UNESCO list with the participation of partner cities, international networks and partners from Poland. This year, we are actively involved in the cooperative network on the Greening of historic public spaces while preparing for the OWHC Congress in Cordoba, with cities taking an active part in the scientific symposium program. Special attention should be paid to the Guidelines for the management of the historic centre of Kraków, meaningful and basic document for the world heritage city, adopted last year by the Kraków City Council. One can read it in English and Polish at: https://krakowheritage.com/en/material-heritage/forms-of-protection/guidelines-for-the-management-of-the-historic-centre-of-krakow/.
