Time Out has published a list of the world's most beautiful Christmas trees. Kraków came top, even ahead of the iconic tree at Rockefeller Center in New York!
The creators of the compilation called Krakow's Christmas tree ‘the crowning jewel of the charming festive market’. They also appreciated the picturesque background of streets and architecture.
Set up on Kraków's Main Square by St Mary's Basilica, the natural spruce is decorated with 26,000 energy-efficient color-changing lights and 64 ornaments, imitating melting icicles. In addition, the tree is decorated with more than a thousand inlaid baubles, echoing the ornaments from the Wawel tapestries. Artificial Christmas trees also appeared in other parts of the city - at Podgórski Square, in front of the National Museum, as well as at Central Square and All Saints' Square.
timeout.com also gave credit to the Christmas tree in Gubbio, Italy (2nd place in the rating) as well as the aforementioned Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in New York (3rd place).
