The Krakow City Council has established several principles governing the Municipality’s foreign policy. Among them, the most important ones are:
The principle does not entail dependence of municipal policies on central government. It solely imposes conformity with international law and customs adopted in relations with foreign partners. Independently, while managing its international relations, a municipality is to ensure the supremacy of national interest.
The principle enables the municipality to assess the efficiency of particular partnerships and, subsequently, eliminate those that prove to be ineffective or too costly to implement.
