Climate-KIC
By joining Climate-KIC (Knowledge and Innovation Communities) Kraków has become a part of the innovation and knowledge-based international community that brings together various entities (including, among others, business, R&D institutions, universities, regional and local self-governments, NGO’s) from all over the World, working together for climate protection and mitigating the effects of climate changes.
Membership in Climate-KIC allows inspiration, observation, learning and building of consortia to carry out joint projects.
It should be pointed out that Climate-KIC presents a unique approach, as the organisation focuses on multi-level systemic innovations allowing to achieve significant effects, supports pilot and demonstration projects and creating a portfolio of interconnected solutions, provides case studies, continuous learning loops and project improvement as well as cooperation between various entities.
Krakow’s membership in Climate-KIC also allows an access to grants, original projects and programmes designed exclusively for Climate-KIC partners, such as the „Zeroemisyjny Kraków” („Zero emissions Krakow) a project financed by EIT (European Instytut of Innovation and Technology). Thanks to this EU initiative Kraków joined the most ambitious European cities: Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Malmö, Milan, or Orléans that will try to achieve zero emissions by 2030. The „Zero emissions Kraków” project involves a 10-year partnership that will result in designing a strategy, innovations and pilot actions as well as the implementation of projects, programmes and policies including the essential and most technologically advanced solutions. All those steps would be taken in cooperation with citizens, NGO’s, enterpreneurs and national as well as international experts.
