On 20 May, Julia Przybysz, Vice Consul at the British Embassy in Warsaw, and Mateusz Kalwasiński, representative of the Consular Section, met with the Night Mayor, the management and staff of the Tourism Department, as well as representatives of the police and the municipal guard.

The meeting had a working character and aimed to strengthen cooperation between the Municipality of Kraków and the British Embassy. Discussions covered, among other topics, more effective exchange of information, contacts and materials useful for initiatives addressed to people visiting Kraków.

One of the issues discussed was the possibility of cooperation within the Respect Kraków campaign, initiated by the Tourism Department, which promotes the responsible use of the city’s offer, respect for local residents, and compliance with local regulations and customs.

Participants noted that isolated incidents involving visitors to the city often attract media attention; however, they should not overshadow the fact that Kraków remains a safe and welcoming city, and that the vast majority of visitors from the United Kingdom enjoy the city responsibly.

It was also emphasised that the purpose of information and educational activities is to reduce undesirable behaviour rather than to stigmatise any particular group of visitors.
