The Association was established at the initiative of Prof. Stanisław Turski, then Rector of the University of Warsaw.

Currently, the Association comprises approximately 900 members organized into 14 regional branches. These members are primarily educated professionals, including university and high school teachers, diplomats, creators, publicists, journalists, lawyers, managers, and other individuals with an interest in Austria.

The Association is composed of individual members; however, its Statute also allows for the membership of legal entities—institutions interested in cooperation with Austria. Following a recent amendment to the Statute (removing the requirement of adulthood), the Association has begun organizing Youth Clubs under its auspices in high schools.

Since the beginning of its existence, the Association has maintained close ties with the Embassy of the Republic of Austria, the Office of the Commercial Counselor, the Austrian Cultural Forum, and other Austrian representations in Poland, as well as with the Austrian-Polish Society in Vienna and the Austrian Polish community.

Goals of the Association:

To promote activities aimed at deepening friendly Polish-Austrian relations in all areas of social, cultural, educational, economic, and tourism-related life.

To disseminate knowledge about Austria among the Polish public, including its history, rich and multifaceted centuries-old achievements in science, culture, and education, socio-economic development, its role on the international stage, and Austria's contribution to the advancement of global civilization.

A key element in the implementation of the Association's program is the organization of comprehensive cultural and educational events under the title “Days of Austria.” These events are held by the Association's branches in various regions of Poland and include musical concerts, exhibitions, lectures, symposia, competitions, and more. They are conducted under the patronage of the Austrian Ambassador as well as representatives of state and local authorities.
