Krakow celebrating St. Patrick's Day
Krakow joined numerous cities around the globe that took part in the Global Greening project organised to mark St. Patrick’s Day illuminating in green two of its landmarks on 17th March 2017.
In Krakow, a highly popular cycling-pedestrian crossing, the Father Bernatek bridge and the flyover linking Lipska and Wielicka streets (one of the longest in Poland) were illuminated in green on 17th March 2017 as symbols of intercultural but also interpersonal Krakow-Ireland communication and relationship.
Launching Festiwal Świętego Patryka 2017 in Warsaw, Ambassador Gerard Keown said:
‘It’s wonderful to see St. Patrick’s Day being celebrated in more towns and cities in Poland than ever. It shows the very strong ties of friendship between Ireland and Poland. We are especially looking forward to welcoming Minister Damien English to Poland for the St. Patrick’s Day period to further build on excellent Irish-Polish relations and to promote trade between our two countries’.
A calendar of events taking place around Poland for St. Patrick’s Day can be found on the Embassy’s website and on a dedicated Facebook page. You can follow news about Festival events on Twitter with #swPatryk.
