Meet the authors of graphic novel devoted to Jan Karski at Krakow’s Home Army Museum

On February 12th at 6.30 pm, Marco Rizzo and Leilo Bonaccorso Italian authors behind Jan Karski – the man who exposed the Holocaust, will meet their readers at the Home Army Museum in Krakow (ul. Wita Stwosza 12). Free entry!

Marco Rizzo – the writer and Leilo Bonaccorsso – the graphic artist, collaborated to tell the story of the iconic courier Jan Karski. Both authors will visit the Home Army Museum to promote their work and tell readers why they took interest in the Polish hero. They will also reveal details of their artistic process and try to convince us that history has inspirational powers.

The Italian version of the graphic novel was released only in 2014. The Polish publishing house Alter was quick to introduce it to the local market later the same year.

The cartoon story takes off in August 1939, to portray the war years of Jan Karski – the man who infiltrated the ghettoes established throughout Poland by nazi invaders and reported on the horrors of the Holocaust. His testimony finally reached the White House where, in July 1943, Karski met President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to expose the alarming facts concerning the extermination of European Jews.

The event at the Home Army Museum will be held in co-operation with Alter publishing house, Polish Institute in Rome and the Italian Institute of Culture in Rome.
