Jacek Majchrowski awarded the title of the best leader of local self-government

Mayor of Krakow Jacek Majchrowski awarded in the national contest “Wzorowa Gmina” (best commune). It was organized by Europa Press Publishing House in cooperation with the Voivode and Marshall Offices and the Association of Polish Cities.

Mayor of Krakow was awarded in the category “Wzorowy samorządowiec” (best local self-government leader). This title is granted by the contest jury based on the innovative approach and achievements of the candidates. Only the leaders of self-government in Poland who are serving their communities for a long period of time, which is a confirmation of people’s trust and support, can receive it.

Mayor Majchrowski’s long term successful efforts to build a positive image of Krakow, in Poland and abroad, was appreciated by the jury and it motivated the choice saying that Mayor of Krakow: “was recognized as the person with strategic vision of sustainable development of the City through, among others; investments improving transportation, supporting business initiatives, numerous activities promoting the City and creating infrastructure enabling Krakow to host top level international events”.

In granting the title of best local self-government leader also the achievements of the Mayor of Krakow in the field of international relations were underlined. Openness and eagerness to exchange experience with foreign partners as well as to implement innovative solutions defines the image of modern leader of local self-government. Active role of Jacek Majchrowski in developing international contacts led to appointing him as Co-President of The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR).
