Description
Kraków became a member of Eurocities pursuant to Resolution No. XXXIII/658/25 of the Kraków City Council, adopted on 2 July 2025.
Eurocities is the largest network of major European cities, bringing together over 200 cities from 38 countries, both within and outside the European Union. Collectively, these cities are home to more than 150 million people—around a quarter of Europe’s population. Founded over 35 years ago, the organisation connects approximately 6,000 politicians, experts, and officials dedicated to shaping better urban futures.
The mission of Eurocities is to support cities in creating high-quality living conditions for all residents. Member cities collaborate to address today’s most pressing challenges, including climate change, digital transformation, social inclusion, and sustainable development.
As a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and cooperation, Eurocities enables cities to share experiences, innovative ideas, and best practices. It also serves as an important advocacy channel with EU institutions, ensuring that the voices and needs of cities are reflected in European policymaking.
Eurocities’ activities cover a broad range of urban policy areas, including:
- Climate and environmental policy
- Transport and urban mobility
- Digital innovation
- Social policy and inclusion
- Culture and education
The organisation operates 40 working groups, each focusing on specific aspects of urban development. Their work leads to the creation of strategies, projects, recommendations, and joint initiatives under various EU programmes.
Member cities benefit from:
- Access to information on EU funds and programmes
- Opportunities to join pilot projects
- Participation in training sessions, events, and campaigns
- Representation and advocacy at the EU level
Major cities in the Eurocities network include: Istanbul, London, Madrid, Rome, Paris, Vienna, Budapest, Barcelona, Munich, Hamburg, Prague, Copenhagen, Brussels, Dublin, Kyiv, Naples, Turin, and Seville.
Polish member cities: Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Katowice, Łódź, Lublin, Poznań, Rzeszów, Warsaw, and Wrocław.
Membership coordinated and supported by: Mayor’s Office
Membership fee:
The membership fee for 2025 amounts to EUR 17,460, representing 50% of the annual fee for cities joining in the second half of the year (including Kraków). In 2026, the fee will rise to EUR 18,070, after which it will be subject to review by the Association’s governing bodies.
