On the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of the launch of Google Maps, Golden Pins were awarded -that is, awards for the best tourist attractions in the country. There were 16 places on the Polish list -one from each region. Wawel is the winner in the Malopolska Region. It already has more than 100,000 opinions on Google Maps, and the average rating is 4.7.

For his long-standing commitment to Polish-German understanding, Mayor Jacek Majchrowski was awarded the Grand Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. This high state decoration established in 1951 was awarded to the Mayor of Kraków by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The award ceremony took place at the Kraków city hall on 25 July 2023.

To mark the 45th anniversary of the inscription of Kraków's historical centre on the UNESCO World Heritage List a plaque commemorating the historic entry has been placed in a representative location on the former Royal Route, between the Florian Gate and the Barbican. The plaque is intended to complement the marking of Kraków's inscription on the list.

On 13 July the citizens of Montenegro celebrate a Statehood Day. It commemorates the recognition of Montenegro as an independent state during the Berlin Congress in 1878.

On Thursday evening, 1 June, in the Gallery of 19th century Polish Art in the Cloth Hall, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland H.E. Anna Clunes and Mayor of Kraków Jacek Majchrowski hosted the event celebrating the recent coronation of their Majesties British King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Wawel Cup is an orienteering competition organized for the 42nd time by the Military Sports Club Wawel. During the five-days event, competitors from over a dozen countries will compete on a sprint distance in Kazimierz district, middle-distance in Podgórze district, as well as in the forest - Bronaczowa and Lasek Wolski. The event will be held from June 28 to July 2.

On 17 May Norwegians are commemorating the signing of the Eidsvoll constitution. This document, signed on 17 May 1814 in Eidsvoll  declared Norway to be an independent kingdom and constitutional monarchy.
