New Zealand Ambassador visits Krakow
On 29 January 2018 New Zealand Ambassador to Poland Mary Thurston met with Krakow Mayor Jacek Majchrowski on her first official visit in our city. Mary Thurston first came to Krakow last summer to study Polish for two months.
Before she visited the capital of Małopolska and met with local authorities Ambassador Mary Thurston participated in the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. During the meeting with Mayor Jacek Majchrowski Ambassador Thurston learned about our most important achievements in the last few years as well as greatest challenges for municipal authorities and citizens.
Mary Thurston commenced her duties at the New Zealand Embassy in Warsaw in July 2017. Besides Poland, she is New Zealand’s Ambassador to Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Ukraine. Her previous positions include New Zealand’s Deputy High Commissioner to Singapore and Maldives, New Zealand’s Deputy High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Coordinator at the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade (MFAT)’s Trade Negotiations Division.
