National Day of Hungary
On 20 August Hungarians celebrate Saint Stephen Day.
The first King of Hungary Stephen I from the Árpád dynasty was crowned in 1000 or 1001. He died in 1038. On 20 August 1083 he was canonized as the first Hungarian saint of the catholic church. To mark this event a National Holiday was established in 1991 r.
