At the end of October, an interesting Kraków Philharmonic (FK) project awaits us – The World of a Master – Beksiński, a series of classical pieces that the painter, sculptor, photographer and graphic artist Zdzisław Beksiński (1929-2005) used to listen to. The Philharmonic have joined forces with the only institution charged with the preservation of this artist's oeuvre, the History Museum in Sanok, which possesses the richest collection of his works. Arriving in Kraków will be selected works by the master; it will be possible to see them in the specially refurbished FK Gold Room, as well as during concerts combining music with the presentation of his works.

The organisers have tried to select the artist's favourite classical pieces. The choice made ranges from the Requiem by Alfred Schnittke (1934-1998), a composer of Russian, German and Jewish descent to the Adagio from Gustav Mahler's Symphony no. 10. We will be able to hear them during the oratorio concerts on 23 and 24 October. Appearing under the baton of Paweł Przytocki will be the FK Orchestra and Choir, as well as soloists – a big event will be the performance by soprano Urška Arlič Gololičič, who was triumphant at this year's Ada Sari Competition in Nowy Sącz.

The chamber concert on 25 October will be concentrating on the works of Franz Schubert (the “Death and The Maiden” String Quartet in D minor) and Dmitri Shostakovich (the String Quartet no 8 in C minor). We shall hear these compositions performed by the Art Déco String Quartet. On the final day of the project (26 October), during the Musica – Ars Amanda symphony concert, the Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra will be led by Francesco Bottigliero. On this occasion, we shall hear compositions by Tomaso Albinoni, Samuel Barber, Antonio Vivaldi, and Alfred Schnittke.

All music and art lovers should feel satisfied – after all the varied range of eras and musical compositions correspond in an unusual way with the spread of Beksiński artistic voyages of discovery.
