Suffering shared is suffering halved, joy shared is joy doubled! The Christian concept of “giving” has one important dimension: the more I give, the richer I become. On 10 January during the 18th Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity we become fully aware of our generosity.
Kraków traditionally actively joins in this campaign which has permanently written itself onto the Polish cultural calendar. For the second time in its history, the orchestra will be playing in aid of child oncology. The Kraków finale begins at 4pm. On the stage located on the Main Square, the cream of Kraków’s music groups will be performing. As guaranteed by the organisers, there is no shortage of surprise appearances by recognised artists in the programme.
During the event, apart from the musical attractions, collections and auctions of valuable items have been predicted, the complete proceeds of which are credited to the fund’s account. The traditional “light to heaven” will of course not be missing. Around 8pm, fireworks will light up the sky, not only in Kraków, but over the whole country.
On this day it’s also worth visiting the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre, where between 4 and 7pm, performances await us by: the “Hamernik” Highlander Band, the “Bit” dance group, the “Flesz Dance” formation and the “Nowa Akademia” Musical Theatre.
Also a significant event at this year’s Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity will be the presentation and auction of photographs by Michał Pasich, Landscape with Portraits .
