On June 17 Icelanders celebrate their National Day. The union with Denmark was dissolved and Iceland was declared an independent republic on this day 1944.

On 5 June the Kingdom of Denmark celebrates Constitution Day. It is the most important national holiday and marks the signing of Danish Constitution in 1849 and establishing the constitutional monarchy and the bicameral parliament.

Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II was born on 21 April 1926. The British monarch usually spends her actual birthday with her family. The official celebration, broadcasted live on the BBC, takes place in June.

On 30 May Croatians celebrate Statehood Day (Dan državnosti) commemorating the constitution of the first modern multi-party parliament in 1990.

Kraków and seven other european cities were officially qualified as applicants for EU Green Capital 2024 Award. Now the applications will be assesed by the group of experts appointed by the European Commission.

On 17 May Norwegians are commemorating the signing of the constitution on that date in 1814 in Eidsvoll. The document declared Norway to be an independent kingdom and constitutional monarchy. 

A branch of the Europa Nostra network – the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub – will be established in Kraków, as the first outpost of this pan-European federation the headquarters of which are based in The Hague while its European Liaison Office is based in Brussels.

Kraków will receive nearly 80 million PLN to help the youngest refugees. This support is possible thanks to the city's cooperation with UNICEF. Today, Mayor of Kraków Jacek Majchrowski and UNICEF Deputy Regional Director for Central Europe and Asia Philippe Cori signed an agreement which provides for joint action on behalf of refugees until the end of 2022.

UNICEF has once again offered to help Kraków care for refugees from Ukraine who have found shelter in our city. On 30 March its representatives, the so-called emergency team and UNICEF Poland Director-General Marek Krupiński, visited the Mayor of Kraków. The purpose of the meeting was to present the possibile UNICEF's support for the activities of the local government of Kraków in the area of caring for the youngest refugees.

'I have been involved in humanitarian aid and refugee affairs for 40 years and I never imagined that I would visit Poland and Kraków in this context,' said United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, who visited Krakow's city hall on 30 March 2022.
