Kraków’s Night Mayor and the Mayor of Kraków’s Sustainable Night-Time Economy Committee invite business owners to apply to the Neighbourhood-Friendly Place programme.

Once approved, a business will receive a certificate and a city sticker featuring the programme’s brandings to be displayed on its door, as well as extra visibility in information materials and lists of recommended places published by the programme’s strategic partner, Kraków Tourism Alliance.

A good place is also a good neighbour

The Neighbourhood-Friendly Place programme is designed to recognise responsible businesses that care about their guests, their local surroundings and good relations with residents.

The programme encourages businesses to operate responsibly, helping to balance a vibrant evening and night-time offer with residents’ right to rest, safety and public order. It is based on a set of good practices developed jointly by business owners, residents and representatives of the Municipality of Kraków appointed by the Sustainable Night-Time Economy Committee.

Businesses applying to the programme will be assessed on how well they follow the good practices adopted by the Sustainable Night-Time Economy Committee. These include responding to excessive noise from guests, reducing noise from day-to-day operations and deliveries, keeping the area around the business clean and tidy, managing outdoor seating responsibly, training staff, and working with neighbouring businesses when disturbances occur.

Who can apply?

The programme is aimed at businesses operating in the evening and at night, including restaurants, cafés, clubs, accommodation providers and other businesses in the entertainment and HoReCa sectors.

Participation in the programme is voluntary, and applications can be submitted at any time.

Benefits of becoming a Neighbourhood-Friendly Place

Once approved, a business will receive a ‘Neighbourhood-Friendly Place’ certificate and a special sign to display at the entrance. Certified businesses will also be listed as programme partners on the city’s official websites.

The programme’s strategic partner will provide additional promotion by featuring certified businesses in information materials, publications, websites and lists of recommended places.

The programme also gives businesses access to practical tools that support responsible operations. Businesses will be able to receive a sound level meter to monitor sound levels and take part in staff training, including on dealing with difficult customers, first aid, safety and responding to emergencies.

The certificate is valid for 12 months and can be renewed. Businesses that go above and beyond in operating responsibly may be awarded a Gold Certificate.
