European Award for MuFo
The Museum of Photography in Kraków (MuFo) has received the DASA Award 2026, a prestigious European award recognising innovative approaches to museum education, public engagement and the social role of museums. This is the first time in the history of the award that the distinction has been presented to a Polish cultural institution.
The award was presented during the conference of the European Museum Academy, held at MARQ – Museo Arqueológico de Alicante, which brought together representatives of museums from across Europe.
The DASA Award jury assesses, among other things, the innovativeness of programmes, the quality and diversity of educational activities, public engagement, accessibility, cooperation with local communities, and the museum’s social impact.
The DASA Award has been presented since 2011 by the European Museum Academy, in cooperation with the DASA Working World Exhibition in Dortmund. This year’s award recognised MuFo’s approach to the museum as a place open to a wide range of visitors’ experiences and needs. An important element of the Kraków institution’s work is using photography as a starting point for conversation, encounters, asking questions and jointly exploring the world.
The award for MuFo is an important distinction for Kraków’s cultural sector and another example of the city’s significant presence on the European map of contemporary museology.
